negative space

(copas dari wikipedia):

Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Negative space may be most evident when the space around a subject, and not the subject itself, forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space is occasionally used to artistic effect as the "real" subject of an image. The use of negative space is a key element of artistic composition. The Japanese word "ma" is sometimes used for this concept, for example in garden design.

In a two-tone, black-and-white image, a subject is normally depicted in black and the space around it is left blank (white), thereby forming asilhouette of the subject. However, reversing the tones so that the space around the subject is printed black and the subject itself is left blank causes the negative space to be apparent as it forms shapes around the subject, called figure-ground reversal.

Elements of an image that distract from the intended subject, or in the case of photography, objects in the same focal plane, are not considered negative space. Negative space can be used to depict a subject in a chosen medium by showing everything around the subject but not the subject itself. Usage of negative space will produce a silhouette of the subject.

The use of equal negative space, as a balance to positive space, in a composition is considered by many as good design. This basic and often overlooked principle of design gives the eye a "place to rest," increasing the appeal of a composition through subtle means. The term is also used by musicians to indicate silence within a piece.

It can be a difficult concept to grasp. One tool used by art teachers in teaching about positive and negative space was popularized in the bookDrawing on the Right Side of the Brain. In the exercise, students copy from an upside-down drawing or photograph. Because the picture is upside-down, students don't readily recognize the objects in the picture. They are able to give equal attention to the positive and negative shapes. The result is often a much more accurate drawing.

kacang

"kenapa ya? padahal kacang itu ngga enak, tapi dimakan terus?" -uli, di depan tv, lagi makan kacang

klo ngga salah, gw pernah baca, tapi lupa sumbernya (dan males googling) tentang kenapa orang suka makan kacang. itutu katanya karna bunyinya. efeknya sama kaya kerupuk (apa keripik? sama aja lah *nggg.. beda sih sbtulnya). kenapa orang2 ngga bisa berenti makan kerupuk/keripik sblom 'begah' ato capek ngunyah, itu karna 'kriuk kriuk' nya.

ini sebetulnya maxud postingan nya apa sih? dan apa hubungannya ma gambar dari http://thingsweforget.blogspot.com itu coba? entah si, cuma jadi kpikiran aja sama 'watch the small things' (trus gada kesimpulannya, zzz.. bodo ah. random)

"yaudah siiih..."

"del, kamu 3 bulan ini yang paling berguna ngapain aja?"
"hmm.." (mikir) "fitness"
"itu doang kan? mana katanya mau beresin buku, belajar mobil, rapiin kamar? katanya mau skripsi?"
"yaudah siiih..." (males komen lebih lanjut)

hal sensitif buat dibahas akhir2 ini: skripsi (walopun gw maunya TA)

herannya minta ampun. kenapa ya? hal2 yang dianggep 'berguna' buat orang lain harus 'dipaksain berguna' juga buat kita? hiiih~ heran heran heraaannn!!!

gw ngerti kok gw harus ngapain. abis ini juga gw kerja keras lagi, ngga main2 lagi. liburan ini gw ngga mb ngga magang emang udah niat buat berlibur. liburan ini gw (terlihat) ngga ngapa2in emang gw yang memilih buat ngelakuin hal di luar rutinitas biasanya: ber random ria (nggg.. jadi rutinitas juga si slama liburan, tapi rutinitas luar biasa, hahaha). kenapa masih suka aja si maksain kehendak? ngga suka banget deh dipaksa. lagian siapa 'nya' nya dari 'katanya' sih? bukan 'gw' kan kata ganti subjeknya? mengatasnamakan 'katanya' aja deh, ngga ngerti lah gw! (trus ngamuk2 sendiri *hosh hosh, tenang. tarik empat buang empat)

lagian mmm.. berguna juga kok liburan kali ini (walau TERLIHAT ngga demikian)

oke baiklah. cangkir. kosongin dulu.

ngga terima dianggep normal gw mau posting aneh ah (judul macam apa ini?!)

hmmm.. another ‘mind-blowing’. akhir2 ini otak gw mulai ‘bekerja’ lagi ternyata. hahaha, kenapa ya? (apanya yang kenapa coba?)

so… whether i lie or not, at least i admit: that’s the truth. what's 'behind', it’s up to everyone to interpret.

shasha: Misal: lo bilang "ga mungkin ada org setinggi 9meter" trus muncul org setinggi 8,9meter... Apa yg bakal lo pikirin?

gw: "wooow, 0.1 meter lagi jadi mungkin!"

shasha: dg kata lain mikir "nyaris, tp tetep aja gw bener. ga ada yg sampe 9 meter" yah?

gw: ato bisa juga "fiuuuh, untung masi kurang 0.1 meter. klo ngga, gw salah"

gw lagi: btw, emang siapa sha yg tingginya sampe 9 meter? brarti klo malem bs ngeliat kelap kelip lampu kota dr atas dong? kereeennn!!!

shasha: ngga, intinya apa yg dipikirin kalo ada hal yg mendekati "ga mungkin" versi kita del..

gw: hooo, ic ic.. jd klo gw blg g mgkn kucing gw jln dg 2 kaki, klo tb2 liat kucing gw jln dg 3 kaki, reaksi gw bakal kaya apa gtu ya?

shasha: iya del kayak gitu.. Pas lo blg "ga mungkin pake 2 kaki" trus lo liat dia jln pake 3 kaki manusiawinya pikiran pertama "mungkin aja sih.." Dan bukannya "tuh kan ga mungkin"

gw: NAH! itu dia! pasti kayanya mustahil, tp anehnya sepakat "ah, brarti g mgkn 'g mgkn!'" WOOOW!!!

gw lagi: wah wah waaah! dan gw bneran takjub ber 'AHA!' sendiri masa sha..

###

kesimpulan: gada yang ngga mungkin.

IH WOW, brilian! bisa2nya contoh sesimpel itu bisa bikin kesimpulan basi macem 'nothing's impossible' jadi ngga biasa tapi masuk akal. bravo bravo! *standing ovation
